Good template
I like the design also, Natalie. Thanks a lot for getting a jumpstart on the PowerPoint slide.
ppt design
I like the design. I think the composition notebook layout fits our task. Good template choice.
Thanks Natalie!

Explanation Needed
I forgot to add that I agree we need to explain the term we are representing in our slide.
Harry Potter a go
It sounds like have arrived at an agreement on Harry Potter Book I. I have no problem with the way Toshu divided the assignment up. I could start the ppt off with WORK and we could pass it around for each to add their part?
Pam, I hope you don't feel left out. I think we all understand about obligations. I don't work, and I have not started my internship yet- so I have A LOT of time.

my two cents
Hello everybody!
I feel like I'm at a little bit of a disadvantage here - I don't have internet access at work, so I have to be at home to participate. Hopefully it won't cause a major issue. I typically get home shortly after 5pm and log onto the computer right away. I can give you my phone number if something major comes up and it can't wait.
As far as dividing up the work up by sections as Toshu suggested, that's fine. One thought is that we should try to have some consistency with the slides when we put them all together, such as same type font, same coloring.
Amber asked: Just to double check again, on the PowerPoint slide, do we just write down the example we're using, or do we have to explain what manifestation is?
I think we have to explain it, and each part. Not that we have a lot of instructions to go off, but it sounds like we have to assume the person reading our PP doesn't know FRBR and by reading our PP will then understand it, or at least the Group 1 portion.

Sounds good!
Sounds like a good plan, Toshu.
Thank you for asking Prof. Ellett.

Yes from Dr. Bob!
I received the following message from Dr. Bob.
"Hi Toshu,
Yes you can use one of Harry Potter's works for Exercise 1."
Shall we go ahead with Harry Potter?
It sounds exciting!!
Natalie, the image looks great!
Will you able to download an image of Harry Potter in another language?
I might be able to download an image of Harry Potter in Japanese.
Shall we divide our power points works?
For example:
Natalie -- work
Toshu -- expression
Amber -- manifestation
Pamela -- item
And, we could check each other's work
Please let me know!
Thank you.

I am not sure when I get answer from Dr. Bob.
I am not sure he is back to his office.
Usually, he answers back quickly.
Shall we wait the process untill we get his answer?

Harry Potter ( I just remembered !)
Harry Potter sounds good. But...
Does anybody remember Dr. Bob mentioned about Harry Potter at the end of the class session?
Is he going to use Harry Potter for another project?

Images for ppt
I am thinking in terms of images of cover art we can access. Do you know where to obtain these alternative image covers?
Expression
Harry Potter is so popular and has been translated into many languages.
Expression in different languages.
William Shakespeare, too.
And many of them became movies: Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet .

Harry Potter 1st book
Yeah I think first book sounds fine.
The title should be Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone.
So do we all agree on Harry Potter?

Harry Potter too
Harry Potter is a great idea too. There are many manifestations- but what about expressions? Should we use the first book or the whole set?
Harry Potter?
Hi all:
Natalie, thank you for setting up this blog and allowing us to be contributors for this blog. I think this will be more effective for our communication.
So we just have to come up with one example for FRBR group 1 entity right?
I like the Harry Potter example.
If I understand FRBR correctly, it would be:
Work: The works of Harry Potter written by J.K. Rowling
Expression: Harry Potter in different translation
Manifestation: Harry Potter DVD
Item: The actual book of Harry Potter in a library
Is this correct?

Group blog page looks great!
Thank you.

I think we move on Action 1
We decide on a famous work. So. we will have more choices of Expression and Manifestation.
I would say... Harry Potter? works of Ernes Hemingway, William Shakespeare?
(The works became movies), Jurassic park?
Please let me know what you think.
Action1:
Select & decide: Work, Expression, Manifestation, & Item
For example
Work:
The old man and the sea / Ernest Hemingway
Expression:
The old man and the sea (Japanese translation)
Manifestation:
DVD, VHS, PlayawayItem: A patron borrows DVD version of the old man and the sea
Action 2:
Assign & construct Power point
For example
Toshu will be assigned to construct a power point of “Work.”
Action 3:
Put all together!
