progress so far

Hi all! Natalie you are jamming!! It does look good, and have to agree that having a picture of the Harry Potter book at the "Work" level would be premature - since its supposed to be the idea of. I like the image of the brain too. I have a question about photos though - can we use just about anything? I'm wondering about copyright and getting images of the web. Is it all up for grabs? Is there a good site to get photos that are free?

I had a thought about quotes from others...that we should keep that to a minimum. Toshu gave a quote that I think was too long for our assignment. Oh, and it looks like Dr. Bob gave us a little more on the directions today. Still not much!! I don't think we need a whole lot either.
So, I did a very slight amount of searching and found two web sites that are pertinent. One is www.frbr.org - a blog all about FRBR. But what looked more interesting was one of the links off to the left http://techessence.info/frbr - this site gives good definitions to help understand the model.

I don't have experience with PowerPoint and animation. It sounds like Toshu can handle that if we need them. But really the slides so far do look great. Do we need more?
Oh, and finally, I have 2007 version of PowerPoint, running on a PC. Like all MS I'm sure it can save with a lower version. I haven't checked though. Like Toshu, I'll be working on my part during the weekend. and a long one too - Yeah a holiday!!

It looks great!

Natalie,

It looks great!

May I ask what kind of image is above the image of the author on the slide?

I am going to work on my part.

Thanks.

Have a great weekend!

Work Image and PPT version

I was thinking that a picture of a book cover would be inappropriate for the WORK slide because a work does not yet have physical form. With the slide, I was hoping to convey the creative product, Harry Potter, is still in the form of Rowling's idea. What do you think?

As far as translating between Mac ppt and PC, there shouldn't be a problem. It would be the same Word docs.

I forgot to add that I changed the WORK slide to what I have included in this post.

Great slides!

Hi

Natalie,

Thank you for the template.

It's wonderful slides!

It looks great wihout animations.

It would be nice if you upload images of book cover (Harry Potter 1) on the "Work" slide.

How about images of the author?

How about these sentences?

"Work difines a distinct intellectual or artistic creation."

"A work is an abstract entity; there is no single material object one can point to as the work. We recognize the work through individual realizations or expressions of the work, but the work itself exists only in the commonality of content between and among the various expressions of the work. When we speak of Homer’s Iliad as a work, our point of reference is not a particular recitation or text of the work, but the intellectual creation that lies behind all the various expressions of the work. Do you think ppt conversion between MAC and Windows is easy?

I made a slide presentaion for my department.
It was a student distribution manual. I use many animations on letters, links, & icons to be attractive to student works.
Do you think ppt conversion between MAC and Windows is easy?

I don't mind arranging animations for all slides if you guys want animations.
You guys will tell me it's too much or not.

I will work on "Expression" part with Natalie's template.

Thanks.

One more

Is anyone good at animating ppt? If so, I would recommend this person be the one to put it all together in the end. I am not, so these slides are just is they look. Please feel free comment and critique. I added a little to it because I wanted to add a little context to the presentation. If you don't like something, please let me know. I am not trying to be pushy- just excited about this class and a lot of time on my hands right now.

Updates Slides

Following up with Toshu's post

I have a Mac version of ppt. I think we had decided on the BOOK I.

Harry Potter image in Japanese (for example)

Everydoby has same power point version? Which Harry Poter?

Hi

For example for each group member:
Natalie -- work
Toshu -- expression
Amber -- manifestation
Pamela -- item

This is an example. I don't mind any part.

So, please select a part you want.

I have Microsoft Office 2003/ power point, not 2007.

It would be easier if we all have the same version.

If we all have the same version, Natalie can send the templates to each one of us.

Individually, we will be able to work on the presentation over this weekend.

And, next week, we will put all together.
We will coordinate and unify our works.
A brave group menber will put all presentation together. And, we will discuss.

Please let me know.

But, before we start, It is essential for us to decide which Harry Potter book we will select for this presentation.

Great!

I am glad everyone likes the template. I will continue with my slide and pass it on to the next in line. (can't remember off hand who that is- I will have to look at Toshu's post again)
