just found this....

1) If the initial occurs in the forename portion of the surname-forename heading, give in the parenthetical addition not only the full form but also the other forenames that appear in the forename portion of the heading. However, do not include a particle or prefix that appears in the forename portion. Place the parenthetical addition directly after the forename portion and before any other addition (e.g., date, title).

#3 - 4 too? and #9

Thanks Natalie for pulling this all together - your interpretations sound good. So does that mean we should put both names under subfield q for #4 100 entry?

I can't find much on the (program) part of #9. Maybe ?? it was discussed in the sept 30 class, but the recording hasn't yet been posted. The class was mostly Q&A the first part about this exercise then it moved on...
On bb there was a question about applying the geographic portion, which doesn't apply. It does show the form found on OCLC:

110 2_ Cleveland Health Quality Choice (Program)
670 Its Summary report, c1994: ‡b t.p. (Cleveland Health Quality Choice) p. 2 of cover (Cleveland Health Quality Choice Program)

looks very close to our #9.

22.18 - Fuller forms

Option

Exercise the option of adding the fuller form even when not required to distinguish between otherwise identical names, provided the spelled-out form can be readily ascertained at the time of establishing the heading.

Note that in applying the option, the following are not added: unused forenames to headings that contain forenames; initials of names that are not part of the heading, unused parts of surnames to headings that contain surnames.

Interpretation

Do not add to the heading the fuller form of a familiar name or nickname chosen for the heading. However, if the form chosen for the heading consists of a standard abbreviation for which there is no ambiguity of meaning (such as "Wm." for "William"), give in the parenthetical addition the full name.
Svatek, Kathy, 1948-
not
Svatek, Kathy (Katherine), 1948-

but
Brownridge, Wm. (William)

Do not apply the option retrospectively to names established prior to the implementation of AACR 2R unless one or other of the following conditions apply:

a) the addition is required to distinguish between names that are otherwise identical; or

b) the heading requires a change in some other element in order to bring it into line with AACR 2R and the fuller form of a name used in the revised heading can be readily ascertained at the time of revision.
AACR 1:
Dennison, John D., 1929-

AACR 2R:
Dennison, John D., 1929-

Full name:
John David Dennison

but

AACR 1:
Jones, Rhys Price

AACR 2R:
Jones, R. (Rhys Price)

Interpetation

If the initials occur both in the entry element of the name (surnames, etc.) and in the inverted part of the name (forenames, etc.) add the full form of the entire name in direct order at the end of the name.
Letelier S., Mario F. (Mario Francisco
Letelier Sotomayor)

but
T., Jacques (Turgeon)

So, for 3#:

Does everyone agree with my interpretation?

#11 & 12

Does this help clarify?
from the corp ppt #3:

INDIRECT ENTRY - rule: AACR2 24.13
identifies 6 TYPES of NON-GOVERNMENT corporate body names that are entered subordinately

AACR2 24.3: Type 5 - A name of a university faculty, school, college, institute, laboratory, etc., that simply indicates a particular field of study.

In response to Pam

Sorry, I didn't get Natalie's email - so working off the three versions - Natalie you and Amber aren't feeling well, I hope you both get well soon!! I always find school work more challenging when sick.
Thanks!

Comparisons: Toshu - I hope I was looking at your right version. I went from the last email.
First Fixed Fields: We are nearly the same except two fields: Auth Status & Ref Status. We may be not going 100% according to true cataloging as some of these would need to be reviewed....I think Dr. Ellett mentioned this in Sept. 23's class.
Don't we need to fill in the Auth Status field? If so then they should all be A for "fully established heading". I thought this was addressed somewhere, other than the ppt slides, but I cannot find it, maybe also in the class.
Ref Status: If there is a 4xx then this needs to be A - not B. In the class BB Dr. Ellett had addressed this.
I posted a reply to this effect quoting Dr. E from BB.

Other than the Fixed fields here’s our differences.

#3: Toshu - the tp does have Joseph C Melton. The question then is do we add the subfield Q and delete the extra 400? Or does the 400 stay because that came from a different source? I think the latter would be accurate, but I'm not sure.
I share this question. Does anyone have a definitive answer? I will look it up...

#4: I am also confused about the subfield Q - do we need to spell out both names, or just the one initialed? According to Toshu's post at 12:42 that we would need to have the cross-ref. Also, does the ordering of the 400's matter? We have the same but in different order. I just went in order by how it appeared in the 670.
We need to clarify. I was confused about this as well.

#6: Pam has as 410 starting as Patrick, Toshu and Amber has Pat - I got mine from the second mention. Wouldn't this need to be spelled out?
Good catch, Pam. I had this wrong too.

#8: I took out the Inc. because Dr. Ellett specifically mentioned this that it would not be needed since the series of names implies coporateness. I suggest we do remove the inc. Also Dr. Ellett said that you must have that comma before the “and” spelled out in 410. These two things he mentioned in Tue's Sept 30 class.
This makes sense to me. I will trust your lead.

#9: I think the (Program) was also because of what was mentioned in the Sept 30 class. I also saw something about this one in the ppt slides, but I don't remember where. I also compared to some records on OCLC and they don't have the added 410. I'll have to search again for this one.

#11: Wouldn't the 110 have the law society first? Again, I saw slides on this - discussing the government and jurisdiction where it said:
1xx $a Government agency (Jurisdiction)
4xx $a Jurisdiction. $b Government agency
If we need to I'll find the reference.
I thought the parent organization was first?

#12: I was lost on this one. Maybe we should just follow the same as #11
I need to work on this one as well.

As far as straight copying from OCLC with ARN number I would want to be cautious with this. Dr. Ellett stated he made these up, although evidently not all of them, because he did not want us to copy.
I also understood this to be the case....

my eyes are starting to cross....

I am having a hard time keeping up with every one's input. I feel like we are getting a little scattered. I think one of us should try to put everything together and email it out for the rest look over. What do you think? I would be glad to do this.

#1: Toshu - you seem to have a different 670. Maybe you took that from the WIKI which Dr. Ellett said he mistakenly had a different 670.

#3: Toshu - the tp does have Joseph C Melton. The question then is do we add the subfield Q and delete the extra 400? Or does the 400 stay because that came from a different source? I think the latter would be accurate, but I'm not sure.

#12: I was lost on this one. Maybe we should just follow the same as #11

#13: all same, except Toshu’s has Alabama spelled out in the 110 - it should be abbreviated.

#14: All match except Amber didn't but the birth date in - since it was given it should be added.

As far as straight copying from OCLC with ARN number I would want to be cautious with this. Dr. Ellett stated he made these up, although evidently not all of them, because he did not want us to copy.

Okay, where do we go from here? We’re getting close despite this long post! And we need to sew it up and turn in tomorrow. I did repeat some of Toshu’s post. Sorry! How do we reconcile?

Toshu's #7

Hi Toshu,

I am looking at your update on #7. You added another 4XX: Ø 5 410 2_ M.V.F.S.G. Why did you decide to add this. Wouldn't this normalize to MVFSG?

Comparing answers

Beside fixed fields,
We had the same answers except the followings:

3) Toshu (100 field only) "I thought title should be from T.P."

4) Amber (different spelling "Lynn" or "Lynne" from others)

9) Pamela ( add "(program)" and no 410)

11) Toshu (110 and 410 reversed, Amber and Pamela has the same)
"Compared to #12, other records in OCLC was different."

12) all different answers, (Everybody has the same answer, but....)

13) Amber (no birth year)

Let's rectify our answers (fixed fields, 1XX, 4XX & 5XX)

#12 & fixed fields

Comparing #12, our record #12 has only one 670.
I assume this is a different record from OCLC.

In terms of fixed fields:
I think #10, #13 & #14 are the same records in OCLC.
So, I copied everything from OCLC records, including
ARN# and Entered: date on the records as well.

The rest of them:
Established heading on a bibliographic records has not been used before.
Also, references have not been evaluated

So, I input the followings for fixed files:
Upd Status: a
Ref status: b
Auth status _

1XX should be from T.P.

HI,

I found the following rules for 1XX:

100/400
A cross-reference is needed if name differs to the left of the comma or in the 1st element to the right of the comma.
For example,
Smith, John M. q (John Michael) -- no cross-ref required (no 4XXor 5XX)
Smith, J. C. q (Joan Carol) -- cross-ref required (yes 4XX or 5XX)

title page: T.B. Smith
verso of t.p.: T. Basil Smith III

2. If the name does not appear in the chief source but does appear once in another prominent source (cf. 0.8) and one or more times in other sources, choose the form appearing in the prominent source.
verso of t.p.: R.J. Gottschall

Finally emailed my answers to everyone

Hi Everyone,

I am finally finished. I apologize for letting the time get away from me. I have also been sick ): The heat isn't helping much either. I am confused about #5. This is what I have: 2 100 1# Parkerson, P. C. ‡ q (Philip Castledine) ‡ d 1947- ¶
3 400 1# Parkerson, Philip Castledine ‡ d 1947- ¶
I used the TP as 100 entry? Grr
