Thank you, guys

Hi,
My program finally worked.
I came up with T581 (Tilston) as well.

Thank you guys!

Amber, please let me know if you need my help on the final draft.

Thanks.

Assignment Done

Thanks everyone for you work! I made the change and just now going to submit the assignment. Have a wonderful weekend - and a good move for Toshu too.

Last changes

I think Amber's latest post is just about it, thanks for clearing up the fixed fields. Yes, the subfield should be B for the 082 field. Also for the cutter number I get a different figure. Under the Cutter Sanborn Four-Figure I'm coming up with T581. With just the Cutter four I got what Amber did with T469. Anyone else have a number with the Cutter Sanborn? Also agree with Toshu on the copy from the verso the verbiage for illustrator.

I'm okay with removing the 500, but either way will probably be correct. So I'm okay with leaving it in too. As far as the dimensions it would be safest to have both sizes, but if we're stressed by this, we can change it to a more normal sized book.

Amber, do you want to attach your record to the monograph and email? We will need to submit the same file individually like last time.

Good luck with the move Toshu!!

Cutter number

Hi Toshu:

Thanks for checking with your supervisor.

As for Dewey cutter number, no I didn't use 4 Figure Cutter Sanborn table. The cutter number for 4 Figure Cutter Sanborn table turns out to be .T569. I'll change my DDC with this cutter number.

It's close to final product

Hi,
I think the following point should be reconsidered:
1)
082_4 635.967109033 ‡b .T469 2005
The subfield must be ‡b

2)
245 12………../ ‡c ……..; illustration by Helen Mitchell.
We should transcribe as printed on our new T.P.

3) (my co-worker suggested)
300 …; ‡c 35 cm.
This book size is odd size. We could change to other sizes if we are not comfortable with it.

4) (my supervisor suggested)
We should omit 500(note), because 504 already describes about bibliographical reference.
I suggest we should change sentences on other information regarding bibliographical reference. “Bibliography pages 260-268 & Index”

Amber, did you use cutter program? My computer didn't work yesterday.
Dr. Bob told me we must use 4 Figure Cutter Sanborn table.
I think everything else is great.
On this Friday, I will move from Chino Hills to Diamond Bar. So, I might not be available all day.
It would great for us to submit this project tomorrow.
Thank you.

Another comparison

Hi Everyone:

So I revised my records again with suggestions from everyone here.

To answer some of Pamela’s questions and also point out some differences in all of our records, I’ll go over each field one by one again:

1. Fixed fields- We need to have a “b” in Cont. to reflect the bibliography.
-For Audience, do we leave it blank since this is a book that can be read by anyone?
Dr. Ellett just responded in Bb that ELvl should be blank, and Srce should be c for pcc record.

2. 040- I believe 040 usually shows up as the first field before any field.

3. 050- Yes Dr. Ellett has also responded in Bb that we’re creating a BIBCO record and therefore we use 050 _4 for LCC numbers and 082 _4 for DDC numbers.

4. 082 – So according to Toshu, we agree to use this 635.967109033 as our Dewey number, right? How about the cutter number? I downloaded the Dewey cutter program and found out the cutter number for Tilston should be .T469. So our Dewey call number is 635.967109033 ǂa .T469 2005, is this correct?

5. 245 – If illustrator information is not listed on t.p. (the chief source of information), then we need to add brackets around the illustrator info.
-Yes, use 12 as the indicators.
-Make sure the first indicator is 1 since 245 is not the main entry here.

6. 260 – Yes I believe we need to use c2005 since it’s a copyright date.

7. 300- Toshu, have you confirmed about the size with your supervisor yet? I think as long we can determine which is the width and which is the length, then we can decide if we keep both sizes or just one.
-For ill, I’ve only seen people simply use “ill.” Not too many people include detailed descriptions of the illustration. But I guess it would be a cataloger’s choice.
-I noticed we have the wrong page numbers in our mock-up t.p. Since bibliography extends to p. 268, there really should be 268 p., not 260 p.
-Make sure there are no indicators in 300.

8. 440- I did not include no. before 5 because we only have the number “5” on t.p. verso.

9. 500- I guess the note is totally up to us. Since everyone is adding the note, I’ll add mine as well.

10. 700- Make sure there are no periods at the end.

11. For the rules, I thought Dr. Ellett indicated to include the rules in the assignment details. But since I have never taken his class before, so I’m not sure how he will grade this assignment. I’ll include the rules just in case.

For any questions about each MARC fields, you can always click here: http://www.oclc.org/bibformats/en/fixedfield/audn.shtm. I found out a lot about indicators and information about each field from this website.

This assignment is due this Friday (9/19). Do we each turn in our individual work again like last time?
