CONSER & comparisons

I would vote for CONSER standard as well. For some reason, I thought I was following CONSER standard, but I kept mixing it up with AACR2.

Comparisons with Pamela’s record and Toshu’s notes with my records:

#1

For all records, I don’t think we need to add ǂa in any fields. They’re usually hidden in bib records.

Fixed fields:

Encoding level-I think it needs to be blank for all CONSER records.

Source-Should be “c” for cooperative program?

Regularity-I think we can put “r” here for regularly published periodical.

037-Is this field required?

042-I added “pcc” for all records.

245-I’m not sure whether to put “Quarterly journal devoted to their distribution” in subfield b or in 500 note. What do you think?

260-Sorry I thought Kent means Kentucky.

I thought the publisher is “John Hilton Editorial & Publishing Office”?

Noted on subfield c. I took out the 2008-

300-removed

310-Not sure if we need subfield b here.

650-added ǂv Periodicals.

710-I thought we only put the added entry here for corporate names appear under statement of responsibility?

#2

Fixed fields:

Encoding level-blank

Source- “c” for cooperative program?

Regularity-“r”

Dates-I’ve seen records that use 19uu, uuuu is ok too.

043-I added California’s geographical code here to reflect the state.

245, 246-We all have different titles here. This one may be difficult to interpret.

260-I’m not sure about the publisher here either. Since both Toshu and Pamle put California State Veterinary Society, I’ll change mine as well.

300-removed.

What do you think of this “ISGS”? Is it more like a title, or publisher? It’s really confusing.

#3

Noted on Pamela’s explanation. I checked through the PowerPoint slides and I agree B,D,I,J are major changes and all others are minor changes.

#4 Manifestation distributed during onsite class.

This one is tough. I’m waiting to see what kind of records we all come up with.
