Well, here are my questions. I hope these will cover our topics well. I had a harder time with this than I expected. Any modification or suggestions are welcome!
4. Transition to Metadata Standards:
Has the library implemented the use of any metadata standards? If so, which standards and in what areas? If not, are there any plans on implementing any metadata standards?
5. Cataloging of Web Sites and Digital, Special Collections:
What does UC Libraries catalog in respect to Web sites, digital resources, and any Special Collections, and who does this cataloging? Do certain types of resources get full cataloging or other types minimal core cataloging?
6. Library Catalog/Metadata Training and Presentation:
Does the cataloging staff conduct any formal or informal training or presentations on the library catalog, cataloging, or metadata standards? If yes who is the training provided for? Library users, library staff, or others? Also, does anyone in the cataloging staff regularly work at the reference or information desk?
Also, I'm sure Toshu knows of this web site, but for the rest of us: UC Riverside Libraries Cataloging Dept: http://library.ucr.edu/?view=departments/cataloging
The page on Cataloging policies and procedures may come in handy when writing our report.
